GETTING THE BLOOD PRESSURE DOWN - 23 JANUARY 2021
I have taken the exercise plunge and done two days of Couch to 5K. Started Wednesday - damp and drizzly and there was a need to gather some allotment produce. No question of doing the running bits with a bag on my back, so I had to wear footwear suited to digging a couple of leeks from saturated ground. I certainly didn't want to wear my nice, new, luminously white Christmas-present-from-son trainers on such a filthy day. So I downloaded the first day's encouraging spiel and set off in walking boots, muddy trackies, old hoodie and allotment coat, ears wired. The 20-minute routine took me to the allotment, round the site twice and then back and forth in front of the (closed for foreseeable future) trading shed. Confess that the wholly unsuitable gear built me a good excuse to walk the whole lot if necessary, but I did manage it although the normal definition of 'run' took a beating.
